Sign and download

On the Add Your Signature screen you sign the document and, once everyone has signed, download your sealed copy.

  • Draw: trace your signature with a finger, a stylus or the mouse in the box “Draw your signature here”. Clear empties the box.
  • Type: enter your name in “Type your full name”. bb-sign turns it into a signature in a handwriting font.

Then press Submit Signature. If the box is empty, you see “Please draw your signature.” or “Please type your name.”

When you submit your signature, bb-sign records, next to your name and email:

  • the image of your signature;
  • the date and time;
  • the IP address you signed from;
  • the browser you used.

This information is part of the envelope’s evidence. Your name, email and the date also appear on the document’s seal.

After submitting you see Document Signed Successfully! and one of these states:

What you see What it means
Download Your Signed Document The sealed copy is ready. There is one button per document.
“Preparing your signed copy — this can take a few moments.” Everyone has signed and bb-sign is sealing the documents. The page refreshes automatically.
“Your signed copy is still being prepared. We have emailed you a link — you can download it from there once it is ready.” Sealing is taking longer. You can close the page and download the copy from the completion email.
No download button Other people still need to sign. The copy will be available once everyone has signed.

When everyone has signed, you receive the email Signing complete: {title} with the link to your copy. The link opens the confirmation screen with the message “This envelope is complete. You can download your signed copy below.” You can use it as often as you need while the copy is available.

You can download the copy from your link for 30 days counted from the envelope’s creation. After that, the envelope is archived and the page shows “This document is no longer available for download. Please contact the administrator.” In that case, request the document from the person who sent it. We recommend saving your copy as soon as you download it.

Every signed document carries a seal, in the position set by the sender or at the end of the last page. The seal includes the header “Verified Signature” with the envelope identifier, your signature, your name, your email, the signing date (year-month-day, in UTC), a QR code and a circular pattern generated from the signature’s fingerprint.

The PDF also carries the organization’s certificate seal, visible in the PDF reader’s signature panel. To check a signature, see Verify a signed document. The relationship between your signature and the certificate seal is explained in Electronic signature and seal.
